Former head coach of "Neftchi" Miodrag Božović stated that the situation in Serbia affects the country's national team. He made a statement to the Russian portal "Championat.ru" regarding this:
"The situation in the national team is the same as the situation in the country. Currently, Serbia feels like it is divided into two parts. Politics often interferes with football. All of this negatively affects the national team. The "Srvena Zvezda" stadium in Belgrade holds 50,000 spectators. Okay, let's assume that 20 percent of the stands are closed (UEFA's decision), but there would still be at least 40,000 fans.
And the country's president decided to hold the game against Albania in Leskovac, in an arena for 8,000 people. This is a completely different atmosphere! Moreover, tickets were given only to the president's supporters. Most of these people have never been to a football match. The atmosphere in the stadium was like a theater! I think this greatly affected the players. They did not receive enough support from the fans. The field in Leskovac was also in poor condition. Unfortunately, this is always the case when politics interferes with football."
It should be noted that a few days ago, the Serbian national team lost to Albania with a score of 0:1 within the framework of the DCh-2026 qualifying round.
