Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe's knee injury may be more serious than the club thinks.
Madrid had previously stated that an examination in Paris confirmed a knee sprain. Mbappe was expected to be out for three weeks.
Idman.Biz, citing Cadena SER, reports that Real Madrid is confident that the forward will be able to play in the second leg of the Champions League 1/8 final against Manchester City on March 17.
However, those around Mbappe disagree and claim that Kilian's injury is more serious than it seems. They note that there are only 100 days left until the 2026 World Cup.
"The player's posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee is at its limit. We'll call it a sprain because that's what the medical report says, but the injury is really serious.
Journalist Anton Meana, citing sources close to Mbappe, says that "he needs these 100 days to fully recover before the World Cup."
For these reasons, those around the player disagree with Real Madrid's recovery schedule.
"Playing against Manchester City is a risk, and Mbappe won't tolerate it," Meana noted.
