Hackers obtained the personal data of fans from the "Marseille" website.
Idman.Biz reports that cybersecurity expert Clement Domingo, known as "SaxX", announced that as a result of a cyberattack on the club's website, the data of 400,000 fans who purchased online tickets and merchandise was compromised.
The compromised database includes the personal data of "Marseille" fans, including addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, social media accounts, and order information.
"Marseille" recently announced that it had been subjected to a cyberattack, which is part of a national and international context characterized by a renewed increase in attacks on large organizations.
Thanks to the immediate mobilization of our technical experts and specialized service providers, the situation was quickly brought under control. From today, all our operations can continue normally and safely, and we are continuing our investigation. The club guarantees its fans that no bank details or passwords have been compromised.
Protecting personal data and maintaining the trust of our fans remains our top priority. To this end, a procedure has been initiated with the relevant authorities, including the CNIL (Data Protection Authority), and a complaint will also be filed.
We urge everyone to adhere to proper digital security practices: strengthen passwords, be vigilant against phishing attempts, and report any suspicious activity," the club said in a statement.
