"Marseille" protests fan ban for match against "Paris"

"Marseille" club has released a statement regarding the ban on fans attending the away match against "Paris" on January 31, in the 20th round of Ligue 1.

Idman.Biz reports that the ban is a measure taken by the local police.

"Olympique Marseille" football club has taken note of the order from the Paris Police Prefecture prohibiting the movement and access to the stadium of any person claiming to belong to the supporter club, during the match against "Paris FC" scheduled to take place next Saturday in the capital.

The club deeply regrets this decision, which once again deprives its supporters of the possibility of accompanying their team to an official away match. "Olympique" reaffirms its unwavering commitment to ensuring that supporters can watch the club in an organized and safe environment, both in France and abroad.

In this regard, "Olympique Marseille" would like to emphasize that during the first leg match played last August at the "Stade Orange Velodrome", "Paris FC" supporters were authorized to travel and attend the match, and no incidents or disturbances were reported. Therefore, the club questions the lack of reciprocity regarding the match to be held this Saturday.

Football cannot exist without supporters, and their presence in the stadium is an integral part of the spirit of the sport. The repeated restrictions on their travels are a cause for concern, as they undermine the values that football should embody - passion, vitality, fairness, and a sense of unity around the game.

Confident that rational and proportionate solutions can be found, "Olympique Marseille" football club has filed an appeal requesting a review of this decision and allowing its supporters to travel.
The club intends to use all available legal means to defend this fundamental principle and continue to represent the interests of its supporters.

"Olympique" calls on all stakeholders to act responsibly and, as always, remains ready to cooperate closely with the relevant authorities to ensure the safety of everyone," the statement from the Provence club reads.
