Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has revealed how his mother reacted to the Spaniard's reluctance to go to school.
"I was good in the first year, but the second year was different, I think after leaving Mataro I wasn't used to living with people from a different social class and other things. I stopped going to classes, I didn't feel comfortable. I got along well with people at La Masia, but it didn't suit me at school.
I would like to study, but I don't think I was made for it", - Yamal said in a statement, according to Lent.az.
He also recalled what he told his parents: "If you have to make me work, we're done. But if you want me to be a footballer, don't worry, I will be."
My mother told me that if I didn't study, I wouldn't play. I called her once when I was at La Masia. I said, "Mom, I'm going to school, but I'm not going to do anything. I'm going to prepare for training during the day."
She asked me what I was talking about? If I focus, I will be a footballer." I wanted to explain it to her, but I couldn't; she scolded me every day. When I debuted, she scolded me for having to study, but I didn't. I advise people not to do what I did, because I might not have been a footballer."
