Burnley defender Kyle Walker has announced the end of his career in the England national team.
Idman.Biz reports that the player has been playing for the "Three Lions" since 2011. In 96 matches for the national team, Walker scored one goal and made 10 assists.
"These are memories. You don't dream of playing in England. You might dream of playing for your childhood club Sheffield United and maybe you think it's possible. You might dream of winning the Premier League. It is possible. But playing for your country - few people can say they've done it. I announce with great pride that I am ending my career in the national team.
Some of you will be happy. Some of you may be a little sad. I just want to say thank you. From Capello to Hodgson, Lee Carsley, Gareth Southgate and Thomas (Tuchel), I want to sincerely thank the coaches I have worked under for making my dream come true. This also applies to my past and present teammates, thank you, I wish you all the best, and to the fans I want to say: keep supporting the boys, they need you, you need to be there for them so they can represent their country with pride.
I hope I can now be a fan and watch them have great success at this World Cup. And lastly, thank you to my family. Thank you for being patient with me all these years that I have been away from you, all the time I have been away pursuing my dream and representing my country.
I just want to say that this page is now closed and from the bottom of my heart I want to say that it was a very interesting journey, but I really, really enjoyed it," Walker wrote on social media.
