Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha's celebration after scoring the winning goal in the match against Arsenal (3:2) could cost him dearly. Sport24.az reports that the Brazilian footballer could not control his emotions while celebrating his spectacular goal from outside the penalty area.
He approached the camera and uttered unethical expressions and swear words.
Because the footballer's voice was clearly heard live, the commentator for the Sky Sports channel, which broadcast the match, had to apologize to viewers immediately.
According to the regulations of the Football Association (FA), offensive and rude expressions, as well as such gestures, are grounds for a red card or subsequent punishment. It is expected that the Disciplinary Committee will disqualify Cunha after examining the video footage.
It is worth remembering that Wayne Rooney, a Manchester United legend, was once punished with a 2-game ban for a similar action, using inappropriate expressions towards the camera. Now, the same fate may await Cunha.
