Jurgen Klopp has revealed why he turned down an offer from Manchester United almost a decade ago.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, although he was offered the position of head coach after leaving Borussia Dortmund in 2014, a conversation with the club's management dissuaded the German from his idea.
"They said, we can bring whoever you want: Pogba, Ronaldo, stars from all over the world. I sat there and thought: 'That's not my job'. It wasn't a project, it was a shopping list," Klopp said.
Klopp added that the conversation convinced him to look for another opportunity, and a year later it was Liverpool. "When I met the people from Fenway Sports Group, it was completely different: a lively conversation, ideas, passion. After that I realized that this is my club."
He chose Liverpool over Manchester United and returned the club to global fame.
