Kazakhstan national team head coach Ali Aliyev has announced his resignation after a heavy defeat to Belgium in the 6th round of the 2026 World Cup qualifying stage.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, the match in Brussels ended with a 6-0 victory for the home team.
"I want to say briefly. All that happened, the defeat is my fault. I will write, I will resign, and when I arrive, I will inform the president and management of the Kazakhstan Football Federation," - Aliyev said at the post-match press conference.
Aliyev was officially appointed as the head coach of the national team in May, replacing Russian Stanislav Cherchesov.
Kazakhstan will play its next qualifying match against Liechtenstein on October 10 on home soil.
