Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola is being considered as a candidate for the head coach position of the Italian national team. Sport24.az reports that the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper reported this.
According to the source, the Italian Football Federation wants to entrust Guardiola with the "helm" of the national team after Gennaro Gattuso's departure.
It is also reported that, despite numerous promises, Guardiola has made a firm decision to leave his post as Manchester City head coach at the end of the 2025/2026 season, one year before his contract expires (until 2027).
It should be noted that Gattuso was appointed head coach of the national team in June 2025, replacing Spalletti. However, the Italian national team failed to qualify for the World Cup under his leadership.
