Former Real Madrid forward and coach Jorge Valdano has commented on Xabi Alonso's departure from the club.
Idman.Biz reports that the Madrid club has announced the termination of the head coach's contract by mutual agreement. Alvaro Arbeloa will serve as head coach.
"Xabi Alonso's situation didn't seem stable to me from day one. I never felt the club's support, and it seemed strange to me, especially when Florentino Perez gave a speech at Christmas without mentioning Xabi's name.
There were a lot of injuries in the team and a key player was missing, and we all know how important that is. Sometimes one player can make the system more harmonious, and Real Madrid doesn't have that kind of player.
Xabi has tried different approaches, you can't say he hasn't tried. He has also faced difficulties as he has had to play with a large number of injured players, and this is a feature of his time at Real Madrid, even though he came with an impeccable CV at the highest level," Valdano told Movistar.
