Barcelona president Joan Laporta has criticized Real Madrid and commented on the court's decision to reject the Madrid club's request to access the Catalan team's financial documents.
Idman.Biz reports that the request was related to bribery allegations against Barcelona in payments to José María Enríquez Negreira, former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), who worked for the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
"It is not normal for a club to use the judicial process to try to obtain information about a rival club, it is an inappropriate behaviour. It was out of place and the judge interpreted it that way. We already know that all this thing is designed to destabilize Barça and damage our reputation. We are being convicted even before the sentence, but they will see that we have not done anything wrong. I trust that this matter will be resolved soon.
Real Madrid is acting inappropriately in its attempt to obtain confidential information about Barça, so their request was illegitimate. I'll go even further: in this case they are trying to support arguments that they know are false and to support what they said on television. There will be no evidence supporting what they are trying to say. Barça has already shown that it has never tried to manipulate the tournament in order to gain favourable treatment from the referees. I am glad that the judge slammed the door in Real Madrid's face.
They are trying to prolong the case even though they know there is no problem. To be better than us you have to work, fight and do things right, which is not always possible," Mundo Deportivo quotes Laporta as saying.
