Members of the Iranian national team participating in the Women's Asian Cup are going through difficult times due to the military conflict in their homeland.
Idman.Biz, citing Reuters, reports that the tension created after US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran has affected the players' psychological state. Iranian national team striker Sara Didar could not hold back tears while answering journalists' questions. She stated that they are worried about their families and loved ones, but hope to hear good news for their country.
The team's head coach, Marzieh Jafari, said that although the players are worried about their families, they are trying to focus on the tournament. She said, "No one likes war, but we have come here to play professional football," adding that they will do their best to please Iranian fans in Australia.
It should be noted that the Iranian national team, which lost 0:3 to South Korea in its first group match, will face host Australia on March 5.
