In 2001, businessman A.Gozal took "Qarabag" Football Club under his wing during its most difficult period, thus saving the team from the threat of collapse.
He served as the president of the club from 2001 to 2015, and as the honorary president from 2015 to 2025.
During these years, "Qarabag" became the champion of Azerbaijan 10 times and won the national cup 7 times.
