The next group games have started in the "School Girls" tournament, organized in cooperation with AFFA and the Ministry of Science and Education, with the support of UEFA. Sport24.az reports with reference to the press service of the organization that this time matches were held in Sabail and Khatai districts.
The first games of group A in the Khatai district were held at the secondary school No. 56, which was selected as the center, and 4 teams competed. First, the teams of schools No. 55 and 27, and then the teams of schools No. 56 and 86 met.
The first meetings of group B in the Sabail district were organized at the secondary school No. 189-190, which was selected as the center, and 4 teams competed. First, the teams of schools No. 132-134 and 7, and then the teams of schools No. 8 and 6 met.
Zumrud Agayeva, head of the Women's Football Department of AFFA, Siyaset Asgarov, head coach of the women's national team A, and Konul Huseynova, director of school No. 56, spoke at the opening ceremony of the tournament in the Khatai district and wished all participants success.
It should be noted that the "School Girls" tournament is a pilot project designed for girls aged 7-9. Initially, this season the project is planned to be held in 2 regions - in 20 selected state and private schools in Baku and in 10 schools from Lankaran. The main purpose of organizing the tournament is to create interest in football among girls from an early age by creating the AFFA U-10 Girls League next season and to attract new players to the national teams in the lower age group in the future.
