In the future, Ganja Stadium will host various international sports events, as well as football competitions.
The Western Bureau of "Report" reports that Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Elmir Mehdiyev said this in a statement to journalists during a media tour organized in Ganja.
According to him, the Ganja City Stadium, which was put into operation in 1964, became unusable after many years of operation:
"In 2023, the President signed an order on the reconstruction of Ganja City Stadium. In accordance with this order, both design and construction works were started in a short time with the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Last year, in April, the head of state laid the foundation of the stadium. Construction works were completed in just one year and five months, and the stadium was fully prepared.
The new stadium stands out for its modernity and meets UEFA Category IV standards. The functionality, technical capabilities and conditions here allow four teams to operate at the same time.
The stadium is fully equipped with modern sound, television broadcasting, lighting and other technical systems in accordance with UEFA requirements.
The stadium has already passed its first major test - it hosted the opening ceremony of the III Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States countries. In the future, the stadium will host both football competitions and other prestigious international events.
In addition, the total area of the stadium has been expanded, and all conditions have been created for the safe entry and exit of fans and athletes. Extensive landscaping work has been carried out on the avenues around the stadium."
