Fred Rutten has officially left his position as head coach of the Curacao national team. Sport24.az reports that the local federation's press service has released information about this. It is reported that the 63-year-old coach made this decision voluntarily on the eve of the 2026 World Cup.
Rutten took over as head coach of the Curacao national team in February 2026. In this position, he replaced Dick Advocaat, who resigned due to his daughter's illness. Under Rutten's leadership, the team played two friendly matches, losing to China (0-2) and Australia (1-5).
It should be noted that Curacao will participate in the World Cup for the first time in its history. The team will compete in Group E along with Germany, Ivory Coast, and Ecuador.
