The football clubs that spent the most money on transfers in the world last year have been determined. According to Sport24.az, English Premier League clubs dominate the list.
The top three include "Manchester City", "Liverpool", and "Chelsea". "Bayer" and "Leipzig" from the German Bundesliga are in the following positions. "Sunderland", newly promoted to the Premier League, is sixth, and "Wolverhampton" is seventh. The top "ten" are completed by "Tottenham", "Arsenal", and "Nottingham Forest".
According to the report, football clubs have increased transfer spending by more than 50 percent compared to last year.
It is noted that English clubs spent $3.82 billion on player purchases in 2025 and at the same time earned $1.77 billion from these transfers. German and Italian teams also exceeded the one billion dollar mark in terms of expenses.
Record amounts have also been observed in women's football. In 2025, total spending on international transfers amounted to $28.6 million, which is more than 80 percent increase compared to the previous year.
