The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has rejected the idea of holding the 2030 World Cup with the participation of 64 teams.
Idman.biz, citing "The Guardian", reports that this decision was made so that the qualifying tournaments do not lose their importance and the number of "intrigue-free games" in the World Cup does not increase.
A source at FIFA stated that not only in Europe, but also the majority of participants in general, believe that a World Cup with 64 teams would harm the tournament: "There will be a lot of uninteresting matches and this could negatively affect the business model."
