FIFA requires women's national teams to include women in their coaching staff. Sport24.az reports that the official website of the supreme football body has released information about this.
This decision was made at the organization's Council. Starting with the U-20 World Cup in September, teams will be required to have at least two women on their coaching staff, at least one of whom must be the head coach or assistant coach.
The changes will also affect the gender composition of medical personnel and other representatives working in the national teams.
The rule will also apply to the 2027 World Cup and club competitions.
FIFA considers the development rate of women's coaching staff to be unsatisfactory. Of the 32 teams competing in the 2023 World Cup, only 12 had female head coaches. In 14 national teams, women served as assistant coaches. Six teams - Argentina, Colombia, France, Haiti, Morocco and the Philippines - had no female coaches at all.
