FIFA has decided to cut the operational budget of the World Cup by more than $100 million.
"Report" reports, citing "The Athletic", that the organization's main priority is the redistribution of 90 percent of revenue within the global football framework.
According to reports, the budget cuts raise questions in the face of a significant financial burden on American taxpayers and record-high ticket prices for fans.
"FIFA regularly assesses budget efficiency to keep costs under control and maximize investments aimed at developing football internationally. This should not be unexpected, as we conduct budget reviews before each tournament and event. Claims that budget optimization efforts are related to the upcoming FIFA presidential elections are completely unfounded," the organization said in a statement.
It should be reminded that the 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
