FIFA President Gianni Infantino has commented on the tense situation in Mexico regarding the games of the 2026 World Cup to be held in the country.
Idman.Biz reports that G.Infantino said that there are no serious concerns about the safety of the competition.
According to him, the situation is currently stable and no problems are expected with the organization of the World Cup.
"The situation is calm, everything is in order now. In general, everything should go without problems," said Infantino.
Let us remind you that on February 24, during a special operation carried out by the Mexican Armed Forces, Nemesio Oseguera, the leader of one of the largest drug cartels in the country, the "New Generation Jalisco", also known as "El Mencho", was neutralized. After that, riots started in several cities of Mexico.
Cartel members burned cars and blocked roads in Guadalajara, one of the cities where the Spain-Uruguay game will be held, among others. However, the FIFA leadership does not see any serious security risks in the organization of the 2026 World Cup.
