"First team player Fermin Lopez has undergone surgery after breaking the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot. The recovery period will depend on the player's subsequent condition," Barcelona said in a release posted on the X social network account.
It was previously reported that the player may not be able to participate in the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
This season, the midfielder has played 48 games in all competitions for the club, scoring 13 goals and providing 17 assists.
