Sadettin Saran, the president of the "Fenerbahçe" club, has been involved in an investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office as a suspect in a criminal case related to narcotics in Turkey.
According to İdman.Biz, Saran has been summoned to the prosecutor's office to testify in the case, in which Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the former editor-in-chief of the "Habertürk" online publication, is also involved.
Allegedly, Saran's house was searched. The club official, who is currently in Milan, Italy, will return to the country tomorrow morning to testify. In a statement to the "Sözcü" newspaper, Saran said, "I will return to Turkey tomorrow morning and I am not afraid of anything."
Journalist Barış Terkoğlu, who has connections to sources close to Saran, stated that the "Fenerbahçe" president went to Italy to hold meetings regarding transfers.
No statement has been made by official institutions regarding the matter yet.
Saran was born in Denver, USA in 1964. He graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kentucky.
He was the captain of the Turkish National Swimming Team in 1984-1985. He has achieved several swimming records. Media organizations such as "S Sport", "Radyospor", "Radyo Müzik", "Radyo Trafik", the "Ajansspor" website, and the betting site tuttur.com also belong to Sadettin Saran.
Saran is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Saran Group", which includes 33 companies operating in five main business sectors, mainly in the media sector. He was responsible for "Fenerbahçe's" football department during Aziz Yıldırım's leadership.
It should be noted that Sadettin Saran was elected president of "Fenerbahçe" in September of this year.
