"I congratulate all the people of Azerbaijan."
Idman.Biz reports with reference to sport24.az that these words were said by Qarabagh football player Elvin Jafarquliyev.
The flank defender shared his thoughts on the match against Chelsea (2:2), the IV round of the main stage of the UEFA Champions League, in which Baku drew with the English representative:
"This is a result equal to victory. Our team has developed a lot, grown a lot. Our club is already at a level where we are talking about winning against Chelsea. I think we played very well as a team. We knew that the opponent was playing with high pressure. They created difficulties for us. But we managed everything. Thank God, today we held our heads up, not down. We fought, we fought. We also thank our fans for not leaving us alone here today."
Jafarquliyev also answered a question about his performance and future career:
"I believe in myself. I was like that today too. It doesn't matter who the opponent is. The main thing is to go out and show my game. I think I managed to do that today too. I have played against football players of this level several times. We have not had any discussions with my manager about new offers. There may be interest from European clubs, but if there is interest, it does not mean that I will be transferred to any club. For this to happen, negotiations must be held with my manager, and I must also agree. There is interest, but how real it is, I cannot say anything yet. Someday I have to sit down and talk to my manager about this topic."
