Footballer Dele Alli has lost a large amount of money at a London casino.
The 29-year-old footballer terminated his contract with Como on September 1 last year and has been without a club since then.
According to Idman.Biz, citing the Daily Mail, he has started regularly visiting a London casino to play poker.
Over the past few days, the former Tottenham player has lost approximately £150,000. It is reported that Alli lost £25,000 several times in one night.
A source at the casino clarifies that Alli's losses are so large that regular customers have begun to call him a "whale" - poker jargon for a weak player who loses large sums of money.
"We are all eagerly awaiting Dele's arrival at the casino, because 'catching a whale' is the dream of every serious gambler.
As soon as he appears, a message is spread: 'Dele is ready for business,' and everyone rushes to join the game he is playing, because we know that it is possible to make easy money there.
He has been coming almost every other day for the last two weeks, usually early in the morning. Sometimes alone, sometimes with a group. He goes upstairs to the high-stakes tables, plays for hours, and usually loses £25,000 each time. I think that's the daily credit limit the casino has set for him," one of the poker players told the Daily Mail.
Another anonymous player said that Alli "hardly talks to anyone" at the casino and "doesn't look happy".
