Former Tottenham Hotspur chief executive Daniel Levy learned of his dismissal on the day the decision was announced.
According to Idman.biz, citing The Athletic, the official, who has headed the club since 2001, was unexpectedly dismissed on September 4.
According to the source, Levy arrived at work after the summer transfer window closed and was informed of his dismissal only during a meeting with director Peter Charrington. The departure was so sudden that Levy himself could not take his belongings from the training base - they were delivered to him in a van. His wife, Tracy, who previously worked at the club, was also fired.
In September, Tottenham announced the end of Levy's 24-year reign. During this time, the club built a new stadium and won two trophies - the League Cup in 2008 and the Europa League last season. Levy himself had previously stressed the importance of the stadium and the world-class training center, saying that his contribution would be appreciated after his departure.
New Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank admitted that his dismissal was a surprise, noting that Levy had made a great contribution to the club's development. In the upcoming matches, under Frank's leadership, the club will try to continue its successful start in the Premier League and the fight in the Champions League.
