Manchester United striker Matheus Cunha's celebration after scoring the winning goal against Arsenal (3:2) could cost him dearly. Sport24.az reports that the Brazilian footballer couldn't control his emotions while celebrating his beautiful goal from outside the penalty area.
He approached the camera and uttered unethical expressions and profanities.
Because the footballer's voice was clearly heard on live broadcast, the commentator of the "Sky Sports" channel, which broadcasted the match, had to immediately apologize to the audience.
According to the regulations of the Football Association (FA), offensive and rude expressions, as well as such gestures, are considered grounds for a red card or subsequent punishment. It is expected that the Disciplinary Committee will impose a disqualification penalty on Cunha after examining the video footage.
It is worth recalling that Wayne Rooney, a legend of Manchester United, was penalized for 2 games for using indecent expressions towards the camera for a similar action in the past. Now Cunha may face the same fate.
