Cardozo was injured during the club's training last week. The 24-year-old midfielder has been diagnosed with a severe ligament sprain along with joint damage. Cardozo will undergo surgery soon.
According to Spanish media, Cardozo's recovery could take three to six months. The footballer is likely to miss the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. The US national team will face Turkey, Paraguay and Australia in the group stage of the tournament.
