73-year-old Claudio Ranieri has rejected an offer to become the new head coach of the Italian national team.
Idman.biz reports that the match against Moldova on June 9 (2:0) within the framework of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round was the last for 66-year-old Luciano Spalletti in the national team.
He had been in charge of "Squadra Azzurra" since 2023.
Ranieri thanked the President of the Italian Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina, for this offer and continued: "It is a great honor for me, but I thought about it and decided to stay in my new position at "Roma."
Ranieri, who coached "Roma" in 2024-2025, is currently an advisor to the club's board of directors. During various periods of his coaching career, he also managed "Cagliari", "Juventus", "Napoli", "Fiorentina", "Inter", "Monaco", "Chelsea", "Fulham" and other teams.
