Two Chelsea fans have been hospitalized in Naples ahead of the Champions League match between Napoli and Chelsea.
Idman.Biz reports that the London club has called on fans to be "extremely cautious."
Chelsea fan Adam claims his friend Marcus was attacked with a bladed weapon. Adam and Marcus were members of a group of seven Chelsea fans who were attacked last night. Marcus was hit in the leg, and another fan's coat was ripped with a sharp object.
"We had pizza at a restaurant and went to the 'Kitebeer' pub for a drink. None of us were in Chelsea jerseys, we weren't wearing blue, and no one was singing.
We decided to go to another pub about a 10-minute walk away where our friends were. Everything was cordial; we weren't making any noise, and we weren't talking about Chelsea.
While walking to the pub, we turned onto another street and encountered a group of about 30 'ultras'. Half of them had their faces covered and weren't wearing Napoli jerseys. They immediately started shouting, 'Where are you from?'
Some of our guys ran away. Unfortunately, they grabbed Marcus by the shoulder and started talking to him. He didn't understand what was happening, and then suddenly he was stabbed in the leg. Obviously, it hurt. Another friend's coat was ripped. It was terrible; the worst part is you start thinking we're all going to get stabbed.
We ran a long way. We met the police. The police took our statements and called an ambulance. The ambulance arrived in five minutes," the fan said.
Adam and Marcus are unsure if they will go to the match.
"We are thinking about it. We are both shocked by what happened, we just don't know how safe it will be. I've been on Chelsea's European trips before - nothing like this has ever happened before. This is our first and probably last trip to Naples. This will make me think twice about which cities I will travel to for matches in the future," Adam added.
The Napoli club declined to comment on the matter.
