The Football Association (FA) has penalized Chelsea and West Ham for the mass brawl that occurred at Stamford Bridge in the 24th round of the Premier League.
Idman.Biz reports that the incident occurred in added time and almost turned into a full-scale brawl between players from both teams.
The dispute began with a collision on the touchline between West Ham striker Adama Traore and Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella, and the fight quickly escalated into a brawl. Traore knocked Cucurella to the ground, and Chelsea striker Joao Pedro retaliated. The situation escalated further after West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo grabbed Pedro by the throat. After VAR intervention, Todibo was sent off.
Referee Anthony Taylor also issued warnings, but the Football Association deemed these measures insufficient to prevent similar incidents in the future. Both clubs must submit their official explanations by Friday, February 6th. According to The Athletic, the teams are expected to be heavily fined after the investigation.
