The Ghana national team has announced the appointment of a new head coach.
According to Idman.Biz, citing the official website of the country's football association, the famous Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz has been appointed head coach. The duration of the contract has not been specified.
The coach will lead the team in the upcoming World Cup, which will start in June and will be held in Mexico, Canada, and the USA. Ghana will face Panama, England, and Croatia in the group stage.
Queiroz has previously worked at Real Madrid and Manchester United, led South Africa to the 2002 World Cup, and Portugal to the play-off stage of the 2010 tournament. He also led Iran to two World Cups and won two World Youth Championships with Portugal.
Ghana is currently ranked 74th in the FIFA rankings.
