Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter has supported calls for a boycott of the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, citing the behavior of President Donald Trump and his administration both domestically and internationally. Sport24.az reports that the former official supported the views expressed by Mark Pieth, the former head of the FIFA Independent Governance Committee, in an interview with the Swiss publication "Der Brund" on the social media platform "X".
In his interview, Pieth said, "Considering everything we have discussed, there is only one piece of advice for the fans: don't travel to the USA! In any case, it is better to watch the match on television. Fans should know that if they do not meet the requirements of US officials, they will be sent back on the next flight," urging fans not to travel to the US.
Blatter also emphasized that he agreed with Pieth:
"I think Mark Pieth is right to question this World Cup."
It should be noted that the 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
