An awareness session on combating match-fixing was held for the Azerbaijan U-19 national team by Naib Asadov, Head of the AFFA Compliance and Anti-Match-Fixing Department, and UEFA's responsible person for combating match-fixing. According to Sport24.az, at the beginning of the training, which took place at the National Teams Training Center in a format determined by UEFA competition rules, a short question-and-answer session was held to check the participants' existing knowledge in this area.
The team members were explained the basic values of football and the principles of fair play, and detailed information was provided about the concept of match-fixing, the essence of these actions and their possible consequences. Discussions were held based on real events, and statistical indicators and videos were shown.
The following topics were also explained during the training:
• Risks of betting activities and illegal actions,
• Sanctions and their application mechanism,
• The essence of the changes made to the AFFA Disciplinary Code for the 2025/2026 football season regarding match-fixing.
At the end of the session, the football players asked questions about the topic, which were answered by the trainer.
AFFA will continue to take measures to educate young football players and promote the principles of fair play and transparency.
