Despite more than half of the season being over, England's "Arsenal" still doesn't have a main striker. Viktor Gyökeres, who was transferred from "Sporting" in the summer for 64 million pounds (147 million AZN) to provide "results now and immediately", has not fully lived up to expectations. The Swedish striker hasn't scored in the Premier League for almost three months.
Idman.Biz reports that this situation has led "Arsenal" to search for a striker again. The focus of the London representative is Madrid's "Atletico" striker Julian Alvarez. According to reports, the "Gunners" are considering transferring the former "Manchester City" player in the summer for approximately 86 million pounds (198 million AZN).
Other attacking options for Arteta are also questionable. Although Gabriel Jesus had a chance in the game against "Manchester United", he made a weak impression and is likely to leave the club in the summer as he has one year left on his contract. Kay Havertz, on the other hand, has hardly been in the starting lineup for almost a year due to long-term injuries.
Alvarez seems like an attractive option in this sense. He has Premier League experience and has scored 19 goals in all competitions in his two seasons at "Manchester City". In the current season, he has stood out with four goals in six Champions League games and mainly plays as a second striker behind Alexander Sörloth at "Atletico" under the leadership of Diego Simeone.
Alvarez is superior to Gyökeres and Jesus in terms of the number of both shots, passes and created opportunities. "Arsenal"'s interest in Alvarez is not only due to the qualities of the Argentinian, but also due to the questions raised by the existing strikers. The London club is aware of the risk, but it is also clear that there is a gap in the attacking line.
