Agil Nabiyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national football team under 16, shared his thoughts on the preparations for the III CIS Games to be held in Gabala.
Idman.biz reports that the head coach said in a statement to the AFFA press service that their goal is to finish the tournament as winners:
"We have been together with the team for two days now. At the beginning of this month, we had a training camp and played a test match against the Georgian national team. Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, which are in our group in the CIS Games, are quality teams. They are aggressive, they like to run a lot on the field and fight.
Nevertheless, our goal will be to prepare well and win both matches. The tournament will be held in our homeland. We want to make our people happy with victories and championship. We have the strength and potential for this. We could not invite several football players due to injuries. New players have been involved in the team instead of them. Our goal is to reach the final and raise the cup above our heads. I believe that we will achieve our goal."
It should be noted that the U-16 national team, which is in Group A, will face Tajikistan on September 27 and Kyrgyzstan on October 1. The team that takes first place in the group will play in the final match on October 4.
