Andrey Demchenko, the new head coach of "Araz-Nakhchivan," gave an interview to the Ukrainian press and assessed his appointment to the Azerbaijani club.
Idman.Biz reports that the experienced specialist said that there are strong teams in our championship.
"This is a new challenge for me. Football is developing rapidly in Azerbaijan. "Qarabag" is a participant in the League stage of the Champions League. There are also strong teams such as "Sabah", "Sumgayit", "Zira", "Neftchi". I saw a good perspective for working here. I am very interested in working in Azerbaijan. I was in Kazakhstan, I saw everything, I showed myself. Now it's Azerbaijan's turn. The main thing for a coach is to work so that there is no break," he said in his interview.
The 49-year-old coach also explained the reason for his departure from the Kazakhstan club "Jenis":
"We had an oral agreement with Jenis that the main goal was to get out of the relegation zone. The contract was signed until the end of the season. After the end of the season, the club could either extend the contract or refuse my services - it was their right. The management chose a different option. However, I am proud of the work done by the team and the coaching staff. "Jenis" had a 14-match unbeaten streak and rose to 6th place. We could have shown even better results, but we were clearly unlucky in some games."
It should be noted that the Ukrainian specialist signed a contract with "Araz-Nakhchivan" for 5 months + 1 year a few days ago.
