Idman.Biz reports with reference to the official website of the Professional Football League (PFL) that the teams led by Valdas Dambrauskas ("Sabah"), Kurban Berdyev ("Turan Tovuz"), Sasha Ilic ("Sumgayit"), Andrey Demchenko ("Araz-Nakhchivan"), Yuri Vernidub ("Neftchi"), Jorge Casquilha ("Imishli") and Kakhaber Tskhadadze ("Gabala") played in the first round of 2026. Sasha Ilic and Kakhaber Tskhadadze watched the matches from outside the technical zone due to punishment.
Thus, the record for seven foreign head coaches leading their teams in the same round in the history of the Azerbaijan championships was re-recorded after almost 15 years. The last time this happened was in 2011. In general, this indicator was observed only in the 2008/2009 and 2011/2012 seasons.
