Azerbaijani chess player Muhammad Muradli was dissatisfied with the unusual tie-break rule of the "Aeroflot Open" tournament held in Moscow, the capital of Russia.
"Report" reports that he made a statement about it to "Report".
M.Muradli said that the competition went normally:
"The tournament went normally for me in general. This can be called a successful performance in terms of increasing the rating. The games showed that it was possible to achieve better results. In the eighth meeting, I could not evaluate my chances better. I could have gained an advantage for victory, but the match ended in a draw. This made things difficult."
The 22-year-old grandmaster added that the tournament had an unusual rule:
"Also, the tournament had an unusual rule. In tie-breaks, I shared 3rd-16th places and took 10th place. The tie-break was the large number of games with black pieces. This is an absurd tie-break. Because it is not something that depends on the player. The large number of games with white pieces is like a lottery. I was less lucky in the tie-break, so I fell to the lower ranks. Otherwise, I could have finished the tournament in the top "5" or "3". But I can say that the tournament was interesting. I tried a new game time. I hope I will achieve better results in the next competitions."
It should be noted that Muhammad Muradli showed the best result among Azerbaijani representatives at the "Aeroflot Open" tournament. He became the national champion last month by defeating Shahriyar Mammadyarov in the final.
