Azerbaijani chess player Mahammad Muradli is dissatisfied with the unusual tie-break rule at the "Aeroflot Open" tournament held in Moscow, the capital of Russia.
He said the competition went normally.
"The tournament went normally for me in general. It can be called a successful performance in terms of increasing the rating. The games showed that it was possible to achieve better results. In the eighth game, I could not better evaluate my chances. I could have gained an advantage for victory, but the match ended in a draw. This made things difficult," he told report.az.
The 22-year-old grandmaster added that the tournament had an unusual rule:
"There was also an unusual rule in the tournament. In additional coefficients, I shared 3rd-16th places and took 10th place. The additional coefficient was the high number of games with black pieces. This is an absurd additional coefficient. Because it is not something that depends on the player. The high number of games with white is like a lottery. I was more unlucky in the additional coefficient, so I fell to the lower ranks. Otherwise, I could have finished the tournament in the top "5" or "3". But I can say that the tournament was interesting. I tried a new game time. I hope to achieve better results in the next competitions".
It should be noted that Mahammad Muradli showed the best result among Azerbaijani representatives at the "Aeroflot Open" tournament. Last month, he defeated Shahriyar Mammadyarov in the final and became the national champion.
