Our grandmaster Aydın Suleymanli has become the sole leader in the prestigious "Tata Steel Challengers" tournament held in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands. Sport24.az reports with reference to Idman.Biz that within the framework of the third round, Suleymanli defeated Dutch representative Elin Rubers and, having scored 2.5 points, rose to the top of the tournament table.
Our chess player is followed by a group of seven participants, each with two points. Among them is one of the legends of world chess, 56-year-old Ukrainian Vasyl Ivanchuk. In the fourth round, Suleymanli will face Chinese Lu Maoyi.
It should be noted that the winner of the "Challengers" tournament will be held in Wijk aan Zee next year and will gain the right to participate in the main competition, the "Tata Steel Masters".
