"We are satisfied with the results achieved by our boxers at the European Championship".
These words were said by Teymur Mammadov, the coach of the Azerbaijani national youth boxing team, while evaluating the team's performance at the U-17 European Championship held in Keinbaum, Germany.
He stated that he considers the two gold and two silver medals won in the competition a successful result.
"If we compare it with last year, this time the result was very good. It completely satisfied us. Each of our medal-winning athletes is a talented child. I see a bright future for them. I hope they will be remembered for their good performances next year as well. Our boxers who could not win a place did not fight badly either. Some were unlucky and faced very strong athletes from the first round. Some lacked experience. The main thing is that we finished the competition without injuries," he said in a statement to AZERTAC.
T. Mammadov highly appreciated the development of boxing among young people in Azerbaijan: "Currently, only positive thoughts can be expressed. Development is happening rapidly. The Federation also pays special attention and support to the training of young boxers. Talented children emerge every year and the team is getting stronger and stronger. This is promising for the future of Azerbaijani boxing".
It should be noted that Gular Huseynova (48 kg) and Gardash Rahimov (46 kg) won gold medals in the team, while Shahin Aslanov (60 kg) and Shukar Aliyev (75 kg) won silver medals.
