American UFC fighter Joaquin Buckley says Australian Jack Della Maddalena cried after losing to Russian Islam Makhachev in their title fight.
Idman.Biz reports that he noted that Makhachev's victory could "slow down" the division's development. Because, according to Buckley, the new champion rarely enters the octagon.
"I cried after his loss! I wanted Maddalena to win. I knew that if Makhachev won, everything in our division would slow down. I have always supported Jack because he is a real fighter. The UFC calls and he never turns anyone down. Islam is a different story, he acts according to his strategy. I would have liked Jack to win, but he is the winner," Buckley said in an interview with the YouTube channel "Submission Radio".
The welterweight title fight between Makhachev and Maddalena took place in New York at UFC 322 in November. The Russian athlete won by unanimous decision, bringing his record to 28 wins and one loss.
