According to Idman.Biz, these words were spoken by Azerbaijani MMA fighter Farman Hasanov at a press conference held in connection with the "UFC Fight Night Baku" tournament.
He is preparing for his next performance in the UFC and said that he will inflict the fifth defeat on his opponent.
"I am currently in the USA. I will come to Baku three weeks before the fight. I expected to perform in the UFC and I was ready for it. Our goal is to wave the Azerbaijani flag and represent our country properly."
The fighter also spoke about the weight loss process:
"We have been in this sport for many years and we know these stages well. We will lose weight in this fight too and there will be no problem."
Farman Hasanov also noted that he is in constant contact with another Azerbaijani MMA fighter, Tofig Musayev:
"As a team, everyone gives their recommendations. My current opponent prefers boxing more. In Azerbaijan, however, the wrestling tradition is strong and I will try to use it to win. Our compatriots support us, I thank them. Holding the UFC tournament in Baku is a big event."
He also said the following about the beginning of his MMA career:
"When I started MMA, my goal was to perform in the UFC. But I didn't expect my debut to be in Baku."
It should be noted that the "UFC Fight Night" tournament to be held in Baku will take place on June 27 at the National Gymnastics Arena. Farman Hasanov will face US representative Eric Nolan in the light heavyweight category.
