Former UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili hinted that a fight between current featherweight champion Ilia Topuria and lightweight champion Islam Makhachev could be organized soon.
Idman.Biz reports that the "MMA Pros Pick" portal reported on this.
"I know some details from Ilia. It could happen sooner than we imagine," Dvalishvili told the portal.
Spanish-Georgian fighter Ilia Topuria made his professional mixed martial arts debut in April 2015. He began competing in the North American Matador League in October 2020. Ilia has 17 victories, only two of which were won by judge's decision.
Islam Makhachev is currently on a 16-fight winning streak in the UFC. Islam has a total of 28 wins and one loss. The Russian athlete faced Australian Jack Della Maddalena in his last fight at UFC 322 in New York. His UFC welterweight title was at stake. The fight ended with Makhachev's victory by unanimous decision.
