Despite "Sabah" securing first place in Group A of the Azerbaijan Basketball League ahead of time, they seriously prepared for the last match – the XX round – against "Absheron Lions." Sport24.az reports that the head coach of the "owls," Rimas Kurtinaitis, said this in a statement to the club's press service after the said game.
He evaluated the match they won:
"Even though we secured first place in the group earlier, we were fully focused on the game. Because I know from both my player and coach experience that the games before this round are also important to prepare well for the playoffs. Therefore, we wanted the players to take this match as seriously as possible. Although the opponent's main playmaker, Frazier, was not in the game, "Absheron Lions" fought well."
It should be noted that the match between "Sabah" and "Absheron Lions" ended with a 105:72 victory for the former.
