The opponent of the "Absheron Lions" basketball club in the first qualifying round of the European Cup has been determined. Sport24.az reports that this was determined at the regular season draw ceremony held in Munich, the capital of Germany.
According to the results of the draw, the Absheron representative will face the Cypriot club "Anorthosis". If "Absheron Lions" wins, they will compete in Group H against "Casademont" (Zaragoza, Spain), "Falko" (Hungary) and "Bakken Bearz" (Denmark).
Baku's "Neftchi" club will compete in the group stage of the European Cup. The opponents of the finalist of the Azerbaijan Basketball League, which will be in Group I, will be "Kalev/Cramo" (Estonia), "Bursaspor" (Turkey) and "Trefl" (Poland).
The qualifying round matches in the European Cup will be held on September 24 and October 1. The dates of the regular season matches will be announced later.
It should be noted that "Absheron Lions" took 4th place in the Azerbaijan Basketball League in the 2024/2025 season.
