Azerbaijani athlete Murad Ahmadiev achieved a historic success at the World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship held in Zagreb.
Lent.az, citing Apasport.az, reports that Ahmadiev, competing in the 97 kg weight category, first defeated Italian Nikoloz Kakhelashvili (4:1), and then Kyrgyz Uzur Dzhuzupbekov (5:1).
In the 1/4 finals, he managed to defeat Armenian Artur Aleksanyan, the world and European champion, with the advantage of the last point in a match that ended with a score of 3:3.
