Some of Azerbaijan's freestyle wrestlers were unable to win medals at the World Championships for various reasons.
Idman.biz reports that this was stated by the head coach of the national team, Khetag Gozyumov, in his statement to "Report".
He shared his views on the World Cup held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia: "Some athletes could have pleased us with medals. But for various reasons, they could not win. There were also those who competed in the World Championship for the first time. This is very gratifying."
The expert said that 22-year-old Nuraddin Novruzov fought very well: "I hope that his bronze medal will be a start for other young people. I am sure that those young people will be jealous in a good way and will want to win a medal. We hope that we will train a world champion in the future. We are working to make this happen."
It should be noted that Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers won four medals at the World Championships. Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) won a silver medal, and Nuraddin Novruzov (61 kg), Arseniy Djioyev (86 kg) and Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) won bronze medals.
